First things first - by animax_nz
So I have met some really amazing people in this industry who have been more than willing to help with connections and I now have a contact for organising an internship at Durrell wildlife park (formally known as Jersey Zoo) and I know I need to be able to commit for a minimum of 8 weeks.
Saving for the trip is going to be the biggest hurdle in reaching my goal. While I have been saving as much as I can, Zookeeping is not a well paid career so it is going extremely slowly.
Anyone wanting to know more about Durrell and the amazing work they do can go to this link http://www.durrell.org/
Not only does 1/3 of Durrells budget go directly to conservation, they have over 50 projects in 14 countries making them a world leader in the conservation of endangered species and the reason I want the opportunity to train with them and bring that knowledge back to New Zealand.

Durrell sounds like a great opportunity. They seem to have an extensive program. Have you explored government grants? I just looked a little bit on the following link but depending on how supportive your zoo is and if they are private or public you could possibly find something.
